Post-Construction Cleaning in the East Bay
Rough, final and touch-up cleaning after buildouts, remodels and tenant improvements, scheduled around your punch list and handover date.
Construction dust gets everywhere: on top of door frames, inside light fixtures, in window tracks and on every new surface the owner is about to inspect. Post-construction cleaning takes a space from job site to move-in ready. It is a one-time project, not a recurring service, and it is usually done in phases that line up with the construction schedule.
What is included in post-construction cleaning
Most projects are cleaned in three phases. You can book all three or only the ones you need.
- Rough clean: after framing, drywall and the major trades, the crew removes scraps and packaging, sweeps and vacuums floors and knocks down heavy dust so finish trades start in a clean space.
- Final clean: after finishes are installed, a detailed top to bottom clean of every surface in the space.
- Touch-up clean: right before the walkthrough or move-in, a quick pass to catch dust from punch list work and footprints from last-minute trades.
The final clean is the most involved phase. It typically covers:
- Fine dust removed from walls, ledges, door frames and trim
- Light fixtures, vents and diffusers wiped
- Stickers, labels and protective film removed from glass, fixtures and appliances
- Paint overspray, drywall mud and adhesive residue removed from hard surfaces
- Interior windows, glass doors and window tracks cleaned
- Cabinets and drawers cleaned inside and out
- Restroom fixtures, partitions and tile cleaned and polished
- Hard floors vacuumed and mopped, carpet vacuumed
- Outlet covers, switches and door hardware wiped
- Remaining loose debris bagged and removed
If new carpet picked up stains during the project, add commercial carpet cleaning after the final clean. Ground-level exterior glass can be handled with commercial window cleaning.
Who post-construction cleaning is for
- General contractors who need the space spotless before the owner or tenant walkthrough
- Property managers turning over a suite after a tenant improvement
- Business owners moving into a newly built-out office, clinic or retail space
- Facilities teams finishing a remodel in an occupied building who need dust cleared before staff return
Once the space is occupied, keep it that way with recurring office cleaning or a full janitorial program. Clinics and dental offices can move straight into medical office cleaning.
How scheduling works
Post-construction cleaning is scheduled around your construction calendar. Tell us the expected dates for rough-in, finishes and the final walkthrough, and we plan each phase to match. Dates move on construction projects, so we stay in touch with your superintendent or project manager as the schedule shifts.
Crews can work during the day once trades are off a floor, in the evening, or on weekends when a deadline is tight. In occupied buildings, cleaning can happen after hours so dust does not settle on employee desks. Call (925) 956-4297 with your square footage, phase and target date, and we will tell you what is realistic.
Post-construction cleaning typically runs $0.25 to $0.75 per sq ft depending on the phase and how much dust and debris is left. A touch-up on a small suite sits at the low end, and a final clean after heavy demolition sits at the high end. Those are typical ranges, not quotes. See our cleaning pricing guide for more detail.
What to expect on the first visit
- Site visit. We walk the space with you or your superintendent, look at the stage of work, note finishes that need special care, like natural stone, new hardwood or coated glass, and agree on which debris the crew removes and what goes in your dumpster.
- Written quote by phase. Each phase is priced separately, so you can book one, two or all three.
- Access and site rules. We confirm site hours, parking, power and water, and any jobsite safety rules before the crew arrives.
- Cleaning and walkthrough. After the final or touch-up clean, we walk the space with you and fix anything you flag before handover.
Post-construction cleaning questions
What is the difference between a rough clean and a final clean?
A rough clean clears debris and heavy dust while work is still underway, so finish trades are not working in a mess. A final clean happens after finishes are in and covers every surface in detail, from light fixtures to cabinet interiors.
Do you haul away construction debris?
The crew bags and removes loose debris, packaging and scraps that fit normal disposal. Large materials, leftover lumber and full dumpster loads stay with your hauling plan. We confirm the split during the site visit.
Can you remove stickers and film without scratching new surfaces?
Crews use tools and solutions suited to glass, stainless steel and finished surfaces, and test a hidden spot first when a finish is unfamiliar. Let us know about any specialty materials during the site visit.
Is post-construction cleaning a recurring service?
No. It is a one-time project tied to a specific job. If the space needs ongoing cleaning after move-in, we can set up a separate recurring plan.
How far ahead should I book?
As soon as you have a target handover date. Call (925) 956-4297 or send the form below. Short-notice touch-up cleans before a walkthrough are worth asking about too.
