Day Porter Services for East Bay Offices and Buildings

A dedicated porter on site while your doors are open: restrooms stocked, lobbies neat, spills handled and conference rooms reset between meetings. Shifts from a few hours to a full business day.

Night cleaning resets your space once a day. By 2pm in a busy building, though, the restroom is out of paper towels, the break room sink is full and someone just spilled coffee across the lobby. A day porter fixes that. Your porter works on site during business hours, follows a written route and handles problems as they come up, so tenants, staff and visitors see a clean building all day.

What is included in day porter service

Your porter follows a set route with timed checks, plus anything your team flags during the shift. Typical duties include:

  • Restroom checks: wipe counters, refill soap, paper and seat covers
  • Lobby and entry upkeep: glass doors, floors, furniture straightened
  • Break room and kitchen resets: dishes, counters, sinks, coffee areas
  • Conference room resets between meetings
  • Trash and recycling runs before bins overflow
  • Spill response and quick floor cleanup
  • Elevator interiors, buttons and handrails
  • Touch point wiping on doors, railings and shared equipment
  • Restocking supplies from your storage room
  • Reporting leaks, burned out lights or broken fixtures to you

A porter does not replace your evening crew. Deep restroom cleaning, full vacuuming and floor care still happen after hours through our janitorial services or recurring office cleaning. The porter keeps that work from coming undone by midday.

Who day porter service is for

Day porters make the most sense where foot traffic is heavy or first impressions matter during the day:

  • Multi-tenant office buildings with shared lobbies, restrooms and elevators
  • Property managers who want common areas presentable for tenants and tours
  • Busy offices with 50 or more people sharing kitchens and restrooms
  • Corporate campuses and business parks in places like Concord, Pleasanton and San Ramon
  • Offices that host clients, interviews or events most days

Retail, showroom and mixed-use properties can also add a porter alongside our commercial cleaning program.

How scheduling works

You pick the hours. Common setups include:

  • Midday shift (4 hours): covers the lunch rush, when restrooms and kitchens take the most wear
  • Full business day (8 hours): for large buildings or campuses with steady traffic
  • Split or event coverage: extra hours on days with board meetings, open houses or tenant events

Typical East Bay rates run $35 to $60 per hour, usually in shifts of 4 to 8 hours. That is a typical range, not a quote. Your written quote is based on building size, traffic and the route you need. See our cleaning price ranges for how other services compare.

The same porter works your building each shift, so they learn where supplies live, which rooms book up and who to call about a leak. When your porter is out, a backup trained on your route covers. To set up coverage or change hours, call (925) 956-4297 and talk to our Concord scheduling contact.

What to expect on the first visit

  1. Building walk. We tour common areas, restrooms, kitchens and supply rooms with you or your building engineer and note where problems pile up.
  2. Route and checklist. You get a written route with check times and a quote for the hours you want. You approve it before anything starts.
  3. Orientation shift. Your porter meets your front desk or property manager, learns access rules and walks the route with the checklist in hand.
  4. Adjust after week one. We ask what tenants and staff noticed, then move check times or tasks to where they help most.

Day porter questions

What is the difference between a day porter and a janitor?

A janitorial crew usually works after hours and does the heavy cleaning: full vacuuming, mopping and detailed restroom work. A day porter works while the building is occupied and focuses on upkeep, restocking and quick response. Most buildings with a porter keep both.

How much does a day porter cost?

Typical rates in the East Bay are $35 to $60 per hour, with most shifts running 4 to 8 hours. Your price depends on hours, building size and duties. Check our pricing page for context, then ask for a written quote.

Can we have a porter only a few days a week?

Yes. Some offices book a porter on their busiest days only, such as Monday through Wednesday, or on days with client meetings. Others start part time and add days once they see the difference.

Who supplies the paper goods and soap?

Most buildings keep their own stock and the porter refills from it. We can also supply consumables and bill them monthly. Either way, your porter tells you when stock is running low so you can reorder in time.
